THIS IS THE ANSWER OF A STUDENT FOR REPLY ;

I interviewed a public school 2nd grade teacher (Lakeesha Jones) in the Atlanta Public school system. She stated that she thought charter schools were good because it offered smaller class sizes and more parent involvement because the school usually have a parent board that makes more decisions for the school. She also stated that must charter schools hand pick their students through interviews which could be a reason why their test scores are higher than public schools. Public schools do not get to choose their students they are required to take all students regardless of test scores or interviews.

I agree with her. I think smaller class sizes are very beneficial to students and teachers. With smaller class sizes teachers can differentiate learning for children easier and there are less discipline problems with the children. I disagree withe some critics saying that the curriculum for Charter school is less rigorous than public schools. Although charter schools are publicly funded the government does not control there curriculum and how it is implement to the children. Teachers have more control and children can better benefit for this type of teacher involvement rather government forced curriculum.

Ms. Jones stated that she enjoyed having technology in her classroom because we live in a world of technology and children should be prepared to use the technology. She stated last year she was in a different school system and they put more of there money into buying technology for the school which she thought was a benefit to the children in the school system. I agree that school systems should put more of their funding for updating technology in the classroom. I don't agree with a classroom of 19 children and only four computers for the children to use. Not only does technology in the classroom give children the opportunity to learn to use the technology, but it also opens up a new way of learning for children because not all children are pencil and paper learners.
