I visited St. Jude Children's Research Hospitals webpage. The mission statement was easy to find. It reads, "The mission of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay."
St. Jude's mission statement is a bit long. It does identify the concept of pride, with the statement about not denying treatment. I would assume that this would be something the staff is proud of too in that they are helping children no matter what. The "why" of the mission is identified in the first sentence. The purpose of the hospital is clearly identified. They tell you what they are trying to do and how they do it. I don't think they need to mention the founder specifically. This is information that can be found in an about us section and doesn't add anything.
3 strategic objectives based on the mission statement:
• Continue to provide all inclusive treatment no matter the situation or financial limitations indefinitely
• Increase funding for research of treatments and cures by 25%
• Increase prevention of curable conditions through marketing materials distributed to medical professionals and parents by the end of 2019
The response should include a reference list. Double-space, using Times New Roman 12 pnt font, one-inch margins, and APA style of writing and citations.
