Assignment Details:
Conduct a literature search on the reasons why incumbents are often beaten by challengers in business. Your team can take some examples of incumbents and challengers while writing the report. However. you must be able to identify and synthesise relevant information.
Assignment 2 : Unit project - Part B
Assignment Details:Your group will choose one existing incumbent that is being beaten by a challenger. In other words, identify and choose one incumbent that is struggling to survive.
Referring to relevant strategic analysis frameworks such as PESTEL, SWOT, 7s, Porter's Five Forces, TR Technology cycle, and The 3 Phases of innovation model, conduct a thorough analysis of the current conditions of this incumbent, synthesise the findings and provide a brief outline of a solution for this incumbent to re-emerge in the new market.
You are required to only propose a solution in this assessment.
You will discuss it in detail in Unit Project Part C.
The solution has to be linked to innovation and new disruptive technologies.
Assignment 3: Unit project - Part C
Assignment Details:
Your group will provide detailed information about the solution you introduced in Unit Project Part B:
The group will submit the following assessment tasks:
• Creative mind map or Design Thinking model depicting how this solution has come up
• Discuss innovative and technological components of this solution.
• Discuss whether this solution is a sustaining or disruptive innovation
• Provide ways to measure the effectiveness of this solution
• Identify potential difficulties that might be expected such as legal problems, support, R&D costs etc.
