Air containing 1.6 mol% SO2 is to be scrubbed with pure water in a packed column with a 1.5 m2 cross-sectional area and a height of 4 m. The liquid flow rate is 2.4 kmol/s and the gas flow rate is 0.065 kmol/s. The outlet gas should contain 0.4 mol% SO2. At the operating temperature, the equilibrium relationship is given by y*=45x.

a. Calculate NOG and HOG.
