Sufficient background information helps your reader determine if you have a basic understanding of the research problem being investigated and promotes confidence in the overall quality of your analysis and findings.
This information provides the reader with the essential context needed to understand the research problem and its significance. The source of background information should contain citations.

1. Background:
1.1. Brief history of data breaches, include several examples (like Equifax company) of high profile data breaches. (2 pages)
1.2. Why is it a big deal? Consequences: money, costs, personal information. Find a graphic that shows the amount of money lost due to breaches, maybe over time; large number of credit card numbers stolen. (3 pages)
1.3. Why the failures? Very briefly. No encryption, poor network security, vulnerabilities, unpatched systems. (3 pages)
