Profit Margin (or Per Unit Profit): It the profit the firm makes on each and every unit it sells at the present level of production. This is the price of product, or the firm’s average revenue (AR) subtracts the firm’s per unit cost, or average total cost (abbreviated as ATC). Therefore per unit gain is P – ATC, or AR – ATC.
