Ganglia or singular ganglion, or neural ganglia, are said to be the structures that is situated outside the central nervous system such as, beside the spinal column or near viscera made up of the concentration of the neuron bodies. Examples of neural ganglia includes the ganglia which concentrate the cell bodies of sensory neurons in dorsal roots of spinal cord and the ganglia of myenteric plexus which is responsible for the peristaltic movements of the digestive tube. In central nervous system (CNS), the concentrations of neuron bodies are known as nuclei and not the ganglia.
