What do you mean by the term SRS? Describe in brief.

SRS stands for the Software Requirement Specification.
It establishes the foundation for agreement between the customers and contractors or suppliers on what the software product is expected to do and also what it is not expected to do.
Some of the characteristics of SRS are:
a) It permits a rigorous assessment of requirements before design can start.
b) It sets the foundation for the software design, test, deployment, training and so on. It as well sets pre-requisite for a good design although it is not adequate.
c) It sets foundation for the software augmentation and maintenance.
d) It sets foundation for Project plans similar to Scheduling and Estimation.
