Fishes exchange gas through the direct contact of water with the help of branchiae (gills). Gases gain and exit the circulation through gills whereas in adult amphibians, gas exchange is done through moist and permeable skin (cutaneous respiration) and also through lungs, a group of tiny airway terminations associated with the highly vascularized tissue is specialized in the gas exchange. The “axolotl” is an exotic amphibian which is found in the Mexico which lives in the water and breathes through the gills even as an adult.
