Porosity in cast part
Which method has more porosity in the cast part? Which method has more strength in cast part?

The sand casting will enfold more porosity in the final product. The die cast will also enfold higher strength both because of the lower degree of porosity and because of the finer grain size. While I haven’t been directly involved in production of cylinder blocks there are a number of reasons for preference of die casting versus sand casting. Die-casting offered a finer finish, better repeatability, greater tolerance, and generally higher quality casting. They employed sand casting of the iron blocks and still do in many cases and initially the employed this same technique for aluminum. But, the lower out the melting point of aluminum provides them to do the die casting technique.
