How the vibration of sound is captured by the tympanum which is transmitted through the ossicular chain of middle ear?

The acoustic transmission from external to the middle ear and to the internal ear is entirely mechanical. Vibration of tympanic membrane triggers vibration of hammer which then makes the incus to vibrate. Then the incus also causes the stapes to vibrate.
