Merging voice and data
Why is merging voice and data a major organizational challenge?
Expert
There are several reasons for the organizations to be able to keep a pace with growing demands of data traffic and technology.
• Excessive hike in the data traffic: In the near past the numbers of users have increased tremendously and so the data traffic, which has created a bottleneck on the communication channels. Combining voice and data further adds to the traffic on a single line.
• Technical limitations: The voice signal when sent with the data signal it has to be compressed which requires additional circuitry and technology. Also managing the increased data requirements in the given bandwidth is a challenge technically.
• Trade off between technology and data traffic: It is not playing in long term because even paying for the costliest backbone doesn’t server in the time to come because the rate of technologies becoming obsolete is more as compared to the rate of increment.
