Transformer losses involve two sources-

a) Copper loss and

b) Magnetic loss.

Copper losses are caused because of resistance of the wire (I2R). Magnetic losses are caused due to eddy currents and the hysteresis in core. Copper loss remains constant after coil has been wound and hence, a measureable loss. Hysteresis loss stays constant for the particular voltage and current. Eddy-current loss, though, is different for every frequency which is passed through transformer.
