Amoebae move through amoeboid movements, small projections and invaginations of their plasma membrane (or pseudopods) which modify the external morphology of the cell forming it move on surfaces. The Paramecia contain the outer face of their plasma membrane wrapped by cilia which flap helping the cell to move. The trichomonas are flagellated protozoans, that is, they contain relatively long filaments exterior the cell which beat and make possible active swimming in the fluid environments.
