  • In a hard disk data or information is written on the rotating platters through the write and read heads.
  • The heads are not in really contact with the disk they are really faintly above the magnetic surface of the platter.
  • The heads identifies the magnetization of the platter right under them. The actuator arm assists the heads in covering the platter region.
  • The surface is separated into micro sized areas termed as magnetic domains. All magnetic domains have a magnetic dipole that has their own field.
  • The write heads read or write through magnetizing the area. It produces a strong magnetic field for this reason.
