Pearls are made from small strange particles which deposit between shell and mantle of oyster. These particles trigger a defense procedure by organism and they are slowly covered by the calcium carbonate layers secreted by oyster thus giving birth to the pearls.

In artificial production of the pearls a small fragment of the shell covered with the mantle pieces is inserted between shell and mantle of an oyster and a pearl is formed around graft.
