Functions of cytoskeleton

Functions of cytoskeleton: As the name suggests, the cytoskeleton is accountable for supporting of the normal shape of cell; it too acts as a facilitator for substance transport across the cell and for the movement of cellular organelles. For illustration, the sliding among actin-containing filaments and the protein myosin makes pseudopods. In cells of phagocytic defense system, such as macrophages, cytoskeleton is accountable for the plasma membrane projections which engulf the external material to be interiorized and attacked by cell.
