The mollusc foot has function of locomotion, fixation, and support, digging in environment and sometimes of holding victim.

Terminations of names given to main mollusc classes come from Greek word ‘podos’ which means foot. Gastropods have feet in their ventral area (as name indicates); pelecypods have ax-shaped feet (ax in Greek is ‘pelekys’); in the cephalopods the feet are near head.
