Factors for designing the HMD
The two factors need to be carefully considered while designing the HMD. What are they?
Expert
Those two factors are stated as:-
a) Weight and
b) Helmet aerodynamics.
During the high vertical acceleration manoeuvres like tight turns and ejection from aircraft, helmet may become very heavy object that may lead to the mandate in order to develop absolutely minimum-weight helmet mounted optics. Immediately following ejection, helmet is exposed to the high-speed airflow that can produce the substantial lift when flowing over the properly shaped object. Therefore, the designer should assure that the helmet is poorly developed from an aerodynamics perspective to assure that it does not produce any lift and thus abruptly pull on the pilot’s neck instantly following the ejection.
