This technique was developed to calculate the number of defects present in a part of software. It is an offline technique and must not be used by everyone. The method is as follows: - To see if the defect is found or not first inject the defects in the application an. So, for example, if we have injected 100 defects we will try to obtain three values which are: -
1) The number of seeded defects was discovered?
2) The number of seeded defects which were not discovered, and
3) The number of new defects i.e. unseeded is discovered? By using this technique we can calculate the number of defects that are remaining in the system.
