The main disadvantage of this system from the risk management point of view is that it just considers health and safety risks and pays no attention to the different other risks business organizations might face. The methodology as well consists of other drawbacks even in its own limited scope. The first and most significant of such is that it pays small regard to more chronic workplace health and safety issues like ill health.

The other disadvantages are that certain judgment calls needed by the system will included an amount of subjectivity on the portion of the person making assessment, most likely most notably whenever deciding the most likely damage outcome.
