Ancylostomiasis is a disease caused by the Necator americanus or Ancylostoma duodenale, both hookworms belonging to nematode phylum (roundworms). Ancylostomiasis caused by such worms is also named as hookworm disease.

Since the parasites nourish themselves on the human blood infection causes anemia, hypoproteinemia and patient frequently appears pale.
