Tunnels which are formed manually are static tunnels. Tunnels which are auto discovered are dynamic tunnels. In dynamic tunneling, TCP joins can be verified dynamically. When no connections present which are routed via the tunnel, a check for more appropriate gateway can be completed. Static tunneling might at times need dedicated equipments.
