American trypanosomiasis: It is commonly known as Chagas disease, caused by Trypanosoma cruzi, is a parasite, found mostly in blood sucking triatomine insects. The organism T cruzi and infection in humans were first introduced in 1909 by the Brazilian physician Carlos R. J. Chagas.
