Explain the term cement concrete and list the various properties of concrete?

It is a mixture of cement, sand, crushed rock and water in an appropriate proportion. It becomes hard like a stone, when it is allowed to rest for some time.

Properties of concrete:

• Cement concrete have a high compressive strength.
• It should be free from the corrosion.
• It is capable of resisting the abrasion.
• A good concrete should shrink initially due to low amount of water.
