Chemical substances composing plasma membrane
Name the chemical substances which compose the plasma membrane?
Expert
The main components of the plasma membrane are proteins, phospholipids, and carbohydrates. The phospholipds, amphipathic molecules, are frequently managed in the membrane according to their polarity that is, two layers of phospholipids form the lipid bilayer with the polar portion of the phospholipids pointing to the external of the layer and the non-polar phospholipid chains in the internal. Proteins can be found embedded in lipid bilayer and there are as well certain carbohydrates bound to proteins and to phospholipids in the external face of the membrane.
