Adult ascaris that live in the human intestine can release up to 200 thousand eggs day. The eggs are eliminated with human feces and mature in environment under some heat and moisture situations. Humans might ingest mature eggs throughout food contaminated by the human feces or through bad hygienic habits. The eggs again in the human intestine release larvae which cross the enteric mucosa and gain the circulation reaching lungs. In the lungs the larva mature and go to airway and to pharynx when they are then swallowed. In the gut the larvae develop in adult worms.
