EPP/ECP or Enhanced Parallel Port/Enhanced Capability Port is defined as the standard signalling the method for bi-directional parallel communication between the computer and the peripheral devices which provides the potential for much higher rates of data transfer in comparison to the original parallel signalling methods. EPP is for the non-printer peripherals. ECP is for the printers and scanners. EPP/ECP is the part of IEEE Standard 1284.
