The Trivial File Transfer Protocol (abbreviated as TFTP) permits a local host to receive files from a remote host however does not give security or reliability. It employs the basic packet delivery services provided by UDP. The File Transfer Protocol (abbreviated as FTP) is the standard mechanism offered by TCP/IP for copying a file from one host to the other. It employs the services provided by TCP and therefore is reliable and secure.
