Spatial summation is the process of hiring of new muscle fibers in order to increase the strength o f the muscle. Temporal summation Takes place whenever a muscle fiber is consistently stimulated to contract without being able to terminate the relaxation. The permanence of muscle fiber under the consistent state of the contraction by the temporal summation is called as tetany, example, clinical condition of the patients contaminated with the toxin of the tetanus bacteria. Tetany ends whenever all the existing energy for the contraction is exhausted or whenever the stimulus ceases.
