Primary ecological succession is the altering sequence of communities from first biological occupation of a place where formerly there were no living beings. For instance, the colonization and following succession of communities are in a bare rock.
Secondary ecological succession is the changing sequence of communities from the substitution of a community by a new one in a given place. For instance, the ecological successions from invasion of plants as well as animals are in an abandoned land or crop.
