Reproduction cycle of a DNA virus
Describe the usual reproduction cycle of a DNA virus?
Expert
A usual virus comprises of proteins on its capsid that bind to the outer membrane of the host cell. In place where the virus remained viral proteins act to break the cell membrane and then the virus injects its DNA molecules in the host cell.
In host cell the viral DNA is transcripted and therefore messenger RNA is generated. Viral mRNA then is translated and viral proteins are formed.
Viral polypeptides made up in the host cell are cut by enzymes termed as proteases and then copies of the virus are collected with the newly formed proteins. Whenever the assemblage of new viruses is completed, the cell membrane breaks and the viruses are liberated to the outside. One sole infected cell can generate hundreds of viruses.
