Recognizing when pet is in pain
How do I recognize that my animal is in pain?
Expert
Crying out or vocalizing repetitively whenever touched or picked up might be an obvious sign of pain though, a very frightened animal may react likewise. More subtle signs might comprise restlessness, panting if not hot (that is, in the case of dogs), trembling, refusal to eat or reluctance to do a general activity. All of such signs should be viewed in the context of any given condition to be recognized as induced by pain as anxiety can generate much similar signs.
