Quarrying is the process which involves extracting of the stone blocks from the rocks. It is carried out at some depth beneath the top surface of rocks where the effects of weathering are not found. Quarrying involves digging, heating and wedging of soft rocks like lime stone, marble etc. For hard and dense rocks, blasting is preferred using explosives.
