Problem on web site optimization

When you just had an hour (in one shot) to expend on WSO (or web site optimization) for a particular site each and every year, what would you do for that specific hour and why?

At first, pick the low-hanging fruit. Remove surplus (that is, graphics and multimedia), cut your prose into half, and optimize the rest. (You could install mod_gzip and so on in less than an hour as well). The major thing is to ensure that your home page loads fast.
