IrOBEX, shortly OBEX refers to a session protocol that is developed by Infrared Data Association to exchange objects in the simple and spontaneous manner. OBEX, that offers same basic functionality as HTTP, but in the much lighter fashion. It utilizes the client-server model and is not dependent upon the transport mechanism and transport API, provided it realizes the reliable transport base. Along with protocol itself, the grammar for OBEX conversations between devices, OBEX too offers a model in order to represent the objects and operations. Additionally, the OBEX protocol describes the folder-listing object that is used in order to browse contents of the folders on the remote device. In first phase, RFCOMM is used as the sole transport layer for the OBEX.
