Echinoderms, as the name points out (that is, echino = spiny, derma = skin), are creatures with spines initiated from an endoskeleton. Their endoskeleton is made up of calcareous plaques which besides spines have pedicellaria, small pincers employed to clean the body and to help in capturing of prey. They also exists a hydrovascular system termed as the ambulacral system. Adult echinoderms contain pentaradial symmetry; the radial symmetry in such animals is secondary, present just in adults.
