Spring contains seven modules. They are as follow:
i.) core container:
A core container offers the crucial functionality of Spring framework. The primary component of core container is BeanFactory, an application of a Factory pattern. BeanFactory applies Inversion of Control (IOC) pattern to isolate an application's configuration and dependency specification from actual application code.
ii.) Spring context:
A Spring context is a configuration file that offers context information to a Spring framework. A Spring context comprises enterprise services as JNDI, EJB, e-mail, internalization, scheduling ,functionality, and validation.
iii.) Spring AOP:
A Spring AOP module participates aspect-oriented programming functionality directly into Spring framework, with its configuration management feature. At last you can easily AOP-enable any object managed by Spring framework. Spring AOP module offers transaction management services for objects in any Spring-based application. With Spring AOP you can include declarative transaction management into your applications without relying on EJB components.
iv.) Spring DAO:
A Spring JDBC DAO abstraction layer proposals a meaningful exception hierarchy for managing exception handling and error messages thrown different database vendors. An exception hierarchy simplifies error handling and greatly decreases the amount of exception code you need to write, like opening and closing the connections. Spring DAO's JDBC-oriented exceptions comply with its general DAO exception hierarchy.
v.) Spring ORM:
Spring framework plugs into many ORM frameworks to provide its Object Relational tool, with JDO, Hibernate, and iBatis SQL Maps. All of the comply to Spring's general transaction and DAO exception hierarchies.
vi.) Spring Web module:
A Web context module forms on the top of an application context module, providing contexts for a Web-based applications. Thus, a Spring framework supports integration with Jakarta Struts. A Web module also eases the tasks of handling multi-part applications and binding request parameters to the domain objects.
vii.) Spring MVC framework:
A Model-View-Controller (MVC) framework is a full-featured MVC application for constructing Web applications. MVC framework is highly configurable with strategy interfaces and accommodates many view technologies as well as JSP, Velocity, Tiles, iText, and POI.
