Book Selection – Are there enough books so that each child has his own copy? Are there entire class sets, or will you opt for several sets of 4 to 5 copies each? Did you select books that lend themselves to discussion and interpretation?

Group Size – How will groups be formed? By instructional level, interest, or self-selection? How many readers will be in each group? Does this number support participation from all members?

Length and Frequency of Sessions – How often will literature circles be incorporated into the school day? How long will the sessions last? Does this time allotment provide enough time for meaningful discussion?

Discussion Leader – Who will lead the discussions? Will the teacher begin sessions and fade responsibility to the students? Will students be assigned roles that will guide discussion?

Format – Will the discussion be structured and flow in a particular sequence, or will response be spontaneous?
