Cellular Digital Packet Data (or CDPD) was a broad region mobile data service that employed unused bandwidth normally employed by AMPS mobile phones between 800 and 900 MHz to move data. Speeds up to 19.2 kbit/s were possible. The service was ceased in conjunction with the retirement of the parent AMPS service; it has been functionally restored by faster services like EV-DO, 1xRTT, and HSPA or UMTS.
