Goals and motives of Radical Republicans
What were the goals and motives of Radical Republicans?
Expert
The radicals were motivated by the ideals, passions and hard-headed politics. Many of them had been abolitionists, morally repelled by the institution of slavery. They had frankly partisan motives too. They believed in racial equality and were determined that, if they could carry the day, African Americans would enjoy full civil rights. They hated slavocracy with a seething passion they did not conceal. They wanted all should have right to vote.
