Font:

The term font is defined as the set of cast metal character formed in the particular size and format, just like 10-point courier italic.  

Bitmapped Font: 

A simple technique which is used for expressing the shapes of the character within the particular typeface is to use the rectangular grid patterns. These set of characters are known as a bitmap font. 

Outline font:

A flexible method is to represent the character shapes utilizing the straight-line and curve sections. These set of character is known as an outline font.
