Time booking is recording the time really spent by a worker on different jobs done through him in the factory for cost analysis and dividing labor cost into different jobs and departments. It also assists in control over wastage of time- idle time.

Various methods employed for time booking are illustrated below:

i) Daily Time Sheets
ii) Weekly Time Sheets
iii) Job Cards

Daily Time Sheets :

Under this method, a daily time sheet is offered to each and every worker on that time spent through him on different work orders is mentioned. This method can be suitably employed if the worker works on different jobs of short duration like in maintenance jobs. However this method is non beneficial also as it involves considerable paper work.

Weekly Time Sheets :

In this method time is recorded for all the jobs done throughout the week in place of recording the work done for a day only. One sheet is allotted to each and every worker. It involves less paper work. Such kinds of weekly time sheets are helpful for intermittent kinds of jobs such as construction work.

Job Card
:

Job Card is a method of recording aspects of time with reference to the jobs or work orders undertaken through the workers. This method makes easy the calculation of labor cost with reference to jobs or work orders.
