Explain Matrix Management

Matrix Management: It is a style of management where an individual has two reporting superiors (that is, bosses) - one functional and the other operational.

This is generally seen in the project management where an engineer, for illustration, reports to the chief engineer functionally, however reports to the project manager on operational project problems.

Usually the functional reporting relationship is stronger, since the functional manager controls the individual's evaluations and compensation.
