Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (or EDGE) (also termed as Enhanced GPRS (or EGPRS), or IMT Single Carrier (or IMT-SC), or Enhanced Data rates for Global Evolution) is a backward-compatible digital mobile phone technology which permits enhanced data transmission rates, as an extension on top of standard GSM.
