Does the minimum spanning tree of a graph provide the shortest distance in between any of two gives nodes?

Minimal spanning tree makes sure that the total weight of the tree is kept at its minimum. This doesn't mean that the distance among any two nodes occupied in the minimum-spanning tree is minimized.
