Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications (or DECT), termed as Digital European Cordless Telephone till 1995, is an ETSI standard for digital portable phones (that is, cordless home telephones), generally employed for domestic or corporate aims. It is recognized by the ITU as fulfilling the IMT-2000 needs and therefore qualifies as a 3G system. In the IMT-2000 group of technologies, DECT is termed to as IMT-2000 Frequency Time (or IMT-FT).
