It is similar to System testing in that the whole system is checked and ensures that the system will deliver which was asked for. The end user should always perform Acceptance testing but not the developer. The user knows what is necessary from the system to attain value in the company and is the merely person qualified to perform that decision. This testing is more about guaranteeing that the software is delivered as defined by the end user.
