Description of tree girdling
Give a brief description of the term tree girdling? What takes place to a plant when that girdle is removed from stem (below branches)?
Expert
Malpighi’s girdling, tree girdling, and is removal from stem of complete external girdle containing phloem (i.e., more external) however preserving xylem (i.e., more internal). When a girdle like which is removed below the branches the plant dies because organic food (sugar) is disallowed to pass to the region below girdle and therefore roots die from lack of nutrients. Since roots die plant doesn’t get water and mineral salts and dies too.
