High Speed Packet Access (or HSPA) is a group of two mobile telephony protocols, High Speed Downlink Packet Access (or HSDPA) and High Speed Uplink Packet Access (or HSUPA), which extends and enhances the performance of existing WCDMA protocols. The further standard, Evolved HSPA (also termed as HSPA+), was introduced late in 2008 with subsequent adoption globally into 2010.
